1. Who we are

2. What data we collect

Account data

• Email address
• Name (if provided)
• Password (stored securely, never in plain text)

Usage data

• Your progress and scores across Highway Code, Road Signs, Theory Questions, and Hazard Perception
• Your Test Readiness score and related activity

Payment data

We do not store your card details. Payments are handled by Stripe, our payment processor. We retain only limited payment metadata (such as confirmation of purchase) needed to manage your access.

Rewards programme data (only if you choose to redeem)

• A photo of your DVSA theory test results sheet
• Your theory test certificate number
• A photo of your provisional driving licence, used once to verify your identity against your results, then deleted (see Section 6)
• Your name, for matching against the above documents

3. Why we collect it

• To provide you with access to the website and track your study progress
• To process your one-time payment for lifetime access
• To verify and pay out redemptions under the £60 rewards programme, where you choose to redeem
• To communicate with you about your account or a redemption you've submitted
• To send you marketing emails about promotions, new features, or updates, where you've opted in to receive them

We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell your data to third parties.

4. Marketing emails

If you'd like to hear about promotions, new features, or updates, you can opt in to receive marketing emails from us. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of any marketing email, or by contacting us at hi@theorytesthut.com. Opting out of marketing emails won't affect account or redemption-related emails, which we'll still need to send you to manage your account.

5. Who we share it with

• Stripe — processes your payment. See Stripe's own privacy policy for how they handle payment data.
• TikTok Shop — used to sell access to the website directly through TikTok's checkout. If you purchase through TikTok Shop, TikTok processes your payment and shares limited order information with us to grant your access.

We do not share your study data, scores, or rewards programme documents with any other third party.

6. How long we keep your data

• Account and usage data — kept for as long as you hold an account with us.
• Rewards programme: results sheet photo and certificate number — kept for record-keeping and to prevent duplicate redemptions.
• Rewards programme: provisional licence photo — used once for identity verification, then deleted. We do not retain a copy of your licence photo after your redemption has been reviewed.

If you close your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we're required to keep records for legal or accounting purposes (for example, financial transaction records, which UK law requires businesses to retain for up to 6 years).

7. Children's data

Theory Test Hut has no minimum age requirement and is likely to be used by learner drivers under the age of 18, including some under 16. We take extra care with data belonging to younger users, in line with UK data protection requirements for services likely to be accessed by children.

8. Your rights

Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Ask us to correct inaccurate data
• Ask us to delete your data
• Ask us to restrict how we use your data
• Object to certain uses of your data
• Complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) if you're unhappy with how we've handled your data

9. Data security

We store data on secure cloud infrastructure hosted in the EU West region, using encryption in transit and at rest, and access controls that limit data visibility to your own account. Rewards programme documents (results sheets, licence photos) are handled with additional care given their sensitivity.

10. Cookies and similar technologies

We do not use website analytics or tracking cookies on theorytesthut.com. Your login session is managed using local browser storage rather than cookies, which keeps you signed in between visits.

Third-party services we use, such as Stripe (for payment) and TikTok Shop, may set their own cookies or similar technologies as part of their checkout or embedded functionality. These are governed by their own privacy policies, not this one.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We'll post the updated version here with a new "last updated" date.
